The EIGEN token serves as a universal utility and security token within this ecosystem. It is used by stakers and operators to secure various services, and it acts as a mechanism for accountability. If an operator fails to perform their duties honestly, their committed assets can be slashed as a penalty. This structure aims to bridge the gap between the power of traditional cloud computing and the security of decentralized systems, enabling new types of applications such as verifiable AI agents, trustless gaming, and secure medical records.
