What is Dinero Staked ETH (PXETH)?

Dinero Staked ETH, commonly known by its token symbol pxETH, is an Ethereum-based liquid staking and restaking solution developed by the Dinero Protocol, formerly known as Redacted Cartel. The project is designed to provide users with a way to participate in Ethereum staking while maintaining the utility and liquidity of their assets. It operates as a core component of a broader ecosystem that aims to decentralize block production and protect users from maximal extractable value or MEV. The protocol utilizes a two-token system to cater to different user needs. The primary token, pxETH, acts as a liquid receipt for deposited Ethereum. It maintains a peg to the underlying asset and is intended for use throughout the decentralized finance ecosystem. Users can utilize pxETH in various applications such as lending platforms or liquidity pools without losing exposure to their original holdings. The second part of this system is apxETH, which is the yield-bearing version of the token. When users deposit their pxETH into an auto-compounding vault, it becomes apxETH. This version is designed to capture staking rewards from the Ethereum network as well as restaking rewards through integrations like EigenLayer. The architecture is structured so that rewards from the entire pool of staked assets are concentrated toward those holding the apxETH version, which can lead to enhanced efficiency for those seeking to maximize their rewards. The underlying Ethereum deposited into the system is used to power the Dinero validator network. This network is a fundamental piece of the project's long-term goal to build a permissionless and public remote procedure call or RPC service known as the Redacted Relayer. This relayer is intended to help users submit transactions privately and securely, shielding them from front-running and other predatory practices commonly found in the Ethereum mempool. In addition to the staking products, the ecosystem is developing a decentralized stablecoin called pxUSD, which was previously referred to as DINERO. This stablecoin is intended to be backed by the staked Ethereum assets within the protocol. Once fully deployed, the project aims to create a circular economy where pxETH serves as collateral, the stablecoin acts as a medium of exchange, and the RPC service provides the infrastructure for secure transactions. Overall, Dinero Staked ETH represents a shift for the Redacted DAO from a focus on governance and incentives toward the consensus layer of Ethereum. By combining liquid staking, restaking, and private transaction infrastructure, the project seeks to offer a comprehensive suite of tools for users to interact with the blockchain more efficiently and securely. Dinero Staked ETH (PXETH) FAQ

pxETH is a liquid staking token designed to be pegged 1:1 with ETH. Its primary purpose is for liquidity and integration across various decentralized finance protocols, but it does not directly accrue staking rewards. In contrast, apxETH, or Autocompounding pxETH, is a yield-bearing vault token. When you stake your pxETH into a Dinero vault, you receive apxETH, which automatically captures and compounds the staking rewards generated from the underlying ETH. This separation allows for distinct use cases: pxETH for flexibility and apxETH for optimized yield.
Dinero utilizes a two-token system to strategically separate liquidity from yield generation. By having pxETH as a non-yield-bearing liquid staking token, it can be widely used for trading, collateral, and various decentralized finance strategies without automatically compounding rewards. This design concentrates all staking rewards from the underlying ETH to only those who hold apxETH. As a result, a smaller pool of apxETH holders receives rewards that would otherwise be distributed across all staked ETH, leading to a significantly higher yield for apxETH participants compared to single-token liquid staking solutions.
The high yield on apxETH is primarily due to a multiplier effect enabled by Dinero's two-token system. A significant portion of the underlying ETH that has been staked to generate pxETH is held by users who keep it as pxETH for liquidity, trading, or other decentralized finance applications. These pxETH holders do not claim staking rewards. Consequently, the total staking rewards generated from all the protocol’s underlying ETH are exclusively distributed among the comparatively smaller subset of users who have converted their pxETH into apxETH. This concentration of rewards boosts the individual yield for apxETH holders.
There are two main ways to convert your pxETH back to native ETH. The first is a Standard Withdrawal directly through the Dinero protocol. This method involves a request process that aligns with the Ethereum network's exit queue for validators, meaning it can take several days to complete. The second option is an Instant Swap on a decentralized exchange. You can exchange your pxETH for ETH quickly through liquidity pools on platforms like Curve or Uniswap, offering immediate liquidity, though it may be subject to prevailing market conditions and liquidity depth.
This requirement stems from the fundamental architecture of Ethereum's Proof-of-Stake mechanism. For a validator to exit the Beacon Chain and release its staked ETH, it typically needs to exit in full validator increments, which is 32 ETH. When you request a standard withdrawal directly from the Dinero protocol, it aligns with these underlying network mechanics. For users with smaller amounts, Dinero offers alternatives like the ETH Buffer or encourages the use of decentralized exchanges for more flexible and smaller-scale exits, avoiding the 32 ETH minimum.
The "ETH Buffer" is a strategic reserve maintained by Dinero, consisting of a small amount of ETH that is intentionally kept unstaked. The primary purpose of this buffer is to facilitate faster and more flexible withdrawals for users who wish to redeem smaller amounts of pxETH for native ETH without having to wait for a full validator node (32 ETH) to exit the Beacon Chain. By having this ready pool of unstaked ETH, Dinero can process immediate withdrawals for common retail amounts, significantly improving liquidity and user experience for smaller redemptions.
