Unlike rebase tokens where the quantity in your wallet increases, nsASTR increases in value relative to ASTR over time as it accrues staking rewards. This model allows users to maintain liquidity for use in DeFi while their underlying assets earn rewards.
The protocol typically targets an APR of approximately 20%. This yield is achieved by optimizing for dApp Staking v3 mechanics, which include base staking rewards plus bonus rewards for participating in specific voting and building periods. Additionally, users can earn weekly loyalty payouts by holding specific protocol NFTs and meeting minimum staking requirements.
In July 2025, a vulnerability allowed an attacker to unlock funds from dApp staking, leading to a temporary maintenance mode for the network. A recovery plan was initiated in phases: redemptions for most holders were completed, while those in the middle of unstaking faced some delays. Compensation followed a tiered structure based on market positions, and the project has since moved to multisig controls involving core ecosystem contributors to enhance security.
As a liquid token, nsASTR is designed for utility across various DeFi platforms.
