The Barry Silbert-backed Fortitude has agreed to purchase 9,000 Bitmain Antminer Z15 Pro miners for roughly $31.5 million, a move expected to more than double the company's previously disclosed Zcash mining capacity.
Bitmain is expected to ship 3,000 of the miners in October and the remaining 6,000 in November. The Equihash ASIC miners, built for the specific purpose of mining Zcash's native ZEC token, will add 7.56 GSOL/s of hashrate according to a Thursday release and could increase Fortitude's mining capacity by 145%.
The additional capacity would bring Fortitude's disclosed mining fleet to around 12.8 GSol/s. Based on the Zcash network's current hashrate, that would equate to more than half the network's computing power, though its total share will ultimately depend on how much additional capacity is brought online by other miners.
The company said the new machines will be deployed across its more than 60 MW of contracted power capacity spanning seven sites in South Dakota, Nebraska, Texas and New York.
The purchase comes days after Fortitude announced it had energized a new 12 MW mining facility in Grand Island, Nebraska, as it prepares to go public through a proposed merger with HeartSciences. Fortitude is expected to trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker TUDE pending approvals.
Fortitude is a wholly owned subsidiary of Digital Currency Group. It reported mining 72,696 ZEC in the first half of 2026 — around 28% of the total Zcash production — worth roughly $34.5 million at current (ZEC) prices.
