World (WLD) unveiled what it called its “most significant World ID protocol upgrade yet,” introducing new integrations and use cases across platforms, including Tinder, a Zoom deepfake-protection feature, and a ticketing tool called Concert Kit.

Alongside the upgrade, World introduced a dedicated World ID app, which it said will launch first as a public beta. The app functions as a portable authenticator, letting users manage credentials, verify with third-party platforms and control how their World ID is used across the internet. The protocol also open-sourced its World ID SDK, allowing any application to build its own authenticator, the World team said in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, the new World ID protocol introduces multi-key support, key rotation, recovery mechanisms, and formal session management. The network said these features align the protocol with enterprise security requirements.

World also introduced a concept called "human continuity," which the network describes as verifying that the same real, unique human is present across interactions, as distinct from traditional security models that verify only devices and credentials.

The network confirmed that several consumer and enterprise platforms have already integrated the upgraded protocol. Per the statement, Tinder is rolling out a global integration that provides orb-verified users with a "verified human badge" to signal authenticity on their profiles.

Zoom has integrated a "Deep Face" protection feature that utilizes a hardware-backed root of trust to confirm that call participants are real humans and not AI-generated deepfakes.

Additionally, Reddit is exploring the protocol for accounts flagged as automated, while Razer and Mythical Games have adopted World ID as a standard for human verification in gaming economies, the statement said.

Expanding 'proof-of-human' infrastructure

Beyond dating and video calls, World said in a separate statement that the protocol has use cases across 13 industries, including social media, e-commerce, gaming, banking, government services, and travel.

In the enterprise sector, the protocol is being positioned to add human continuity to digital agreements and email, ensuring that the authorized individual is the one executing a document or sending a sensitive message.

The network also highlighted the role of the protocol in social media governance and participation systems, where limiting interactions to real humans is seen as a priority for maintaining platform integrity.

World has also introduced a fee structure for World ID. According to the statement, applications that use World ID credentials may be required to pay fees while end users continue to access the protocol for free. The fee model consists of two components: a credential fee set by each credential issuer, such as the World Foundation for the Orb credential, and a protocol fee set by the network.

The network said the pricing mechanism will likely favor a per-monthly-active-user fee, allowing applications to compare the fee directly against the value generated by “proof of human.” The protocol supports the enforceability of fee payments through prefunded wallets.

Web3-native applications can prefund wallets directly on the blockchain, while Web2 platforms may use third-party services that handle wallet balances and charge the application in fiat currency.

World said protocol fees can be programmatically allocated according to onchain mechanisms, which may direct a portion of fees toward network operations or burn a share of tokens. The World Foundation will initially configure this mechanism, according to the statement.
