Mask Network is a browser extension and mobile app that acts as a bridge between traditional social media (Web2) and the decentralized web (Web3). It allows users to send encrypted messages, trade NFTs, and utilize decentralized finance (DeFi) tools directly on platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram. It adds a layer of decentralized features, enhancing existing social media with capabilities such as crypto tipping or private posts, without requiring users to leave their familiar platforms.

The MASK token serves three primary purposes within the Mask Network ecosystem. Firstly, it provides Governance rights, allowing MASK holders to participate in the MaskDAO by voting on protocol upgrades and treasury utilization. Secondly, it enables Staking, where users can stake MASK to earn rewards or to participate in unique "Initial Twitter Offerings" (ITOs). Lastly, MASK is used for Premium Features, granting access to some advanced DApplets or services within the network, sometimes functioning as a fee for these functionalities.

Mask Network officially supports several popular social media platforms. These include X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, Minds, and Mirror.xyz. The project's goal is to integrate Web3 functionalities seamlessly into these widely-used Web2 environments, enabling users to access decentralized features and interact with blockchain applications directly from their preferred social media platforms, enhancing their digital experience with new capabilities.

"Lucky Drops" are an engaging social feature designed for distributing crypto on Mask Network. Users can create a "red packet" containing various tokens, such as ETH, MASK, or stablecoins. This packet is then posted on their social media timeline, for instance, on X. Only other users who have the Mask Network extension installed and are active can see and "claim" a share of the tokens from the drop. It's an interactive way to share digital assets socially.

Only individuals who have the Mask Network extension installed and have been explicitly granted permission or are part of your designated "Persona" circle can decrypt and read your encrypted posts. For anyone else without the necessary permissions or the extension, the content will simply appear as a scrambled string of characters or a placeholder image. This ensures your privacy and gives you control over who can access your sensitive information shared through the network.

The "SocialFi" (Social Finance) ecosystem represents a key part of Mask Network's long-term strategic roadmap. It aims to empower creators by enabling them to directly monetize their content through smart contracts embedded within their social media posts. This model seeks to bypass traditional ad-based revenue systems, offering a decentralized alternative where creators have greater control and can earn directly from their audience.
