Suzaku is a decentralized infrastructure protocol and a permissionless hub specifically designed for Layer 1 blockchains within the Avalanche ecosystem. Its primary mission is to help new and existing sovereign Layer 1 networks scale and achieve decentralization by connecting them with a network of stakers and infrastructure operators. At its core, the project operates as an automated marketplace for validator services. This helps solve the cold start problem for new blockchain projects that often struggle to attract enough validators to secure their network at launch. By using a restaking mechanism, Suzaku allows these networks to borrow cryptoeconomic security from established assets and existing validators. This model enables users to secure multiple blockchains simultaneously, enhancing the overall security of the ecosystem. The SUZ token is the native utility and governance asset of the protocol. It serves several key functions within the ecosystem: Staking and Rewards: Token holders can stake their SUZ to receive sSUZ, which is a liquid staking token. This allows users to earn rewards while maintaining the ability to use their assets in other decentralized applications. Staking also provides exposure to incentives and potential distributions from various partner blockchains that utilize Suzaku for security. Governance: SUZ acts as a governance token, giving holders the power to vote on protocol upgrades, revenue sharing models, and other key decisions that shape the future of the network. Network Utility: For infrastructure layers developed by the foundation, such as the Suzaku Relayer Network, the SUZ token is intended to be used for staking and paying for network resources like gas. This creates direct on-chain utility for the token beyond simple participation. The ecosystem involves several types of participants: Stakers: Individuals or entities who provide capital to secure networks. Operators: Infrastructure providers responsible for running validator nodes. Curators: Professionals who manage staking strategies and select which networks to secure. Sovereign Networks: Blockchains that utilize the protocol to bootstrap their decentralization. The project was developed by the Ash team and has received support from the Avalanche Foundation through grants aimed at building essential infrastructure.
