Source: tradingview.com.</em></p><p><br></p><h2>Regulatory Amendments</h2><p>To facilitate the changes, the SEC will amend the Derivatives Act and add new regulations to allow licensing for digital assets derivative operator.&nbsp;</p><p>In addition, the SEC will evaluate frameworks governing exchanges and clearinghouses.</p><p><br></p><h2>Assets That May Be Included</h2><p>Digital assets and/or cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin are now included under the new regulations.</p><p>Carbon credits, emissions allowances, and renewable energy certificates (RECs), are also included.</p><p>This gives you greater opportunities to use these instruments when creating either futures or options contracts.</p><p><br></p><h2>Industry Reactions</h2><p>Nirun Fuwattananukul, the CEO of Binance Thailand, described it as a “watershed moment”.</p><p>He sees it as an indication of Thailand becoming the leader in the digital economy across Southeast Asia.</p><p>This change shows that Thailand recognizes cryptocurrencies as an emerging asset class separate from speculation and other investments.</p><p><br></p><h2>Broader Context</h2><p>A broader view of Thailand's overall position on cryptocurrency includes a ban on using cryptocurrency as a method of payment domestically, but has opened institutional markets and partnerships while still trying to fight against illegal activities.</p><p>Examples of recent advancements are companies creating and trading tokenized carbon credits in 2025.</p><p><br></p><h2>Outlook</h2><p>Overall, these advancements could allow for trading Bitcoin futures contracts on the Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX). In addition, cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds may become a reality in the near future as Thailand continues its development of a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies.</p><p>This means that Thailand will position itself as a cryptocurrency hub in Asia.</p><p><br></p>
